The holidays are often one of the busiest and most profitable time of the year for many craft sellers which means social media might be on your list of places to market your business. As we get closer to the holiday season, we all know there’s going to be A LOT of focus on shopping and buying which is understandable.
But when it comes to your social media posts, especially around the holidays, are they mostly focused on selling?
While there’s nothing wrong with marketing your handmade business to make a sale (you have a right to earn money for your work!), if it’s the theme of most of your social media posts, it can get old real fast for your followers, especially during the holiday season.
During the holidays, many companies (big and small) are working to get the word out about their businesses and it may seem like advertising is increased tenfold. After a while, things may seem like noise to the average consumer so it’s important to keep in mind what kind of content you're posting and sharing online to your followers.
The holidays aren’t about consumerism, even though it certainly feels like that. It’s about connecting with others and celebrating the time with those close to you.
So what does that mean for you as a craft business? It means while you definitely should share what products you’re selling this holiday season, it'd be ideal to integrate non-salesy content into your social media feed. It's a great opportunity for you to invite your followers into your world and let them get to know you.
